About
Hi, I'm Harriet
I'm the trimmer behind Solebay Trim, working from my workshop at Tithe Road in Wootton, Bedfordshire.
A little about me
I've been trimming car seats since 2023, and I love turning my passion for cars into something creative at Solebay Trim. I'm a bit of a VW nut, with a Type 3 and a single-cab pickup, and I have a real love for all things classic.
I especially enjoy working with genuine leather: the smell, the feel and the quality. I'm always up for something bold and a little different, but I love keeping things original and classic just as much. For me, it's all about great craftsmanship, creativity and putting a bit of personality into every project.
Outside of work, I'm happiest doing something adventurous. Off-roading through the Sahara in Morocco, road-tripping around Wales, ripping through fields on motorbikes or getting behind the wheel of a drifting Caterham: I'm always up for a bit of excitement. I love watching motorsport and exploring new places in our campervan with my husband and our dog, Macintosh.
I guess you could say my love for cars doesn't stop when I leave the workshop!
If you have a vision, I'm in.
How I started
It all began with our Type 3
I've always loved making things. I've had a sewing machine since I was young, and over the years I've made cushions, curtains and upholstered pieces all around our home.
Trimming came along when our Volkswagen Type 3 needed a new interior. I went on a professional car trimming course, where I learned to trim modern and classic cars, and even boat upholstery. I started on our Volkswagen T6 campervan, then moved on to the Type 3, and I fell in love with it. That's where Solebay Trim began.
Since then I've had the pleasure of working on some amazing cars, alongside plenty of everyday jobs that keep things moving.
How I work
Craft, creativity and a bit of personality
Traditional hand skills come first. Alongside them, the workshop has a CNC machine, embroidery, laser engraving and 3D printing, so I can cut a new door card precisely, add a monogram, engrave a logo into leather, or print a clip that hasn't been made for decades.
Genuine leather
The smell, the feel and the quality. Nothing else quite compares.
Bold or original
Something bold and a little different, or kept original and classic. I love both.
Personality
Great craftsmanship, with a bit of personality in every project.
Heritage skills + modern technology
